Lego Maersk

And here’s the final product, the Maersk McKinney-Moller. It’s about 65cm long.

You may think from looking at this picture that your eyes are deceiving you, or that the camera lens has distorted the ship. In fact, the model is hogging quite noticeably. I guess maybe the proper weight of some of those containers wasn’t declared.

Now, the hull is pretty much finished, and is being used as a storage place for pieces.

New build

This is a build I did recently with my kids, or rather, something I paid for and that my kids built. They let me build a little, but not much.

Here’s the beginning of the project, the laying of the ‘keel’.

Blue Toon

Here’s the next shot in the Blue Toon build. I’ve started planking, working mostly at the stern, but have put on a couple planks up to the bow. IMAG0694

Blue Toon – adding the keel

So, the bulkheads were all in place on the building board. The slots were all cut ready to accept the keel, and then the keel was put in place for a dry fit. There was some fine tuning to be done to get it to sit just right, but that only took a few minutes. The keel was then slipped in, glued, and clamped. Time to let it sit for a while, then I’ll get to work lofting the frames.
